OVERVIEW

Established in 1934, the environmentally sustainable Ronshobaru is located inside Unzen-Amakusa National Park, close to Minami Shimabara city. The parklands, which have been protected by locals for decades, house a treasure trove of wild birds and native tableland plants.

With the goal of creating synergy between humans and the natural environment, Ronshobaru aims to provide its visitors with a range of educational experiences. Make rapeseed oil, try your hand at working in the on-site farmstead, or visit the biodiesel plant - you are bound to learn something new. For something different, preserve your own charcoal rose, or go grass tobogganing down the rolling hills.

Visitors can also interact with the park’s resident animals, and enjoy the seasonal flowers bloom. Small animal petting, goat feeding and horse riding are available upon inquiry. If you are lucky, you may even meet a few wild friends - boars, rabbits, raccoons and native birds and insects visit the grounds throughout the year.
