OVERVIEW
Once the lobster fishing ban is lifted at the end of August each year, spiny lobster season begins! Each year hundreds of visitors flock to Nomozaki, located at the southernmost tip of Nagasaki peninsula, to get their hands on a bargain and taste some fresh crustaceans.
The annual Spiny Lobster Festival celebrates the opening of the season, with a variety of fun activities to entertain the whole family. Collect your ticket to try catching a live fish with your gloved hands, or watch the locals compete in the peiron dragon boat tournament. Stalls sell locally made snacks and refreshments.
Sales continue until late September, so even if you miss the opening festivities, you still have the chance to sample some spiny lobster for yourself.
