OVERVIEW

Enjoy the autumn colors of Mt. Fugendake while hiking up to the 1359m summit. From the top of Nita Pass cablecar, the newly opened trail gives an up-close look at Japan’s most recently formed mountain (and active volcano), Heisei Shinzan.

The full circuit of Myogendake > Hatoana-wakare > Fugendake > Azamidani Valley takes approximately 4 hours. Wear sturdy trainers or hiking boots as the path can be quite rocky in some areas.

Fees Entrance to the national park costs 100en/ vehicle.
Access information Nita Pass is accessible by private car or sightseeing taxi. An approximately 15min drive from Unzen town.
Open hours The cable car is in operation from 8:30am-5pm daily.
Days Closed Trails and the cable car may be closed due to extreme weather conditions, such as snow or high winds.
